Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner / PMHNP

Centerway Behavioral Health

We are currently seeking a full-time Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner / PMH APRN to see general adult mental health patients in an outpatient setting. Part-time applications are also considered. If you are a physician assistant with prior mental health employment, please contact us as well.

Provider experience (Psychiatrist Nurse Practitioners and Psychiatrists):
We believe that our providers will only be able to care for their patients well if we care for our providers well. We encourage anyone interested to interview us and let our providers tell you about the experience.  We are certain the systems and approaches will be unlike anything you have seen before.  Every annoying second that wastes the provider’s time and limits time spent with a patient has a solution.  There are none we are aware of that remain on the table.  This took years of effort to design and improve upon. We focus on building our clinic perfectly, not quickly.

Work from home, our office, or both:
You will have the option of working from home, or at our office. You may select whichever location you prefer, or a mixture of the two locations.   For any day you chose to work from home, a courier service will deliver the necessary materials to you.  Therefore, a drive to work becomes unnecessary for those days. We do, however, ask that you live within a two-hour round-trip drive of the Charleston, South Carolina area.

Work type:
We see mostly telehealth visits, but in-person visits are starting to increase since the COVID-19 pandemic began. Since then, have focused mainly on telepsychiatry to ensure staff and patients remain safe.  The telepsychiatry platform was professionally developed for ease of use and stability.  A staff member is always assigned to ensure that each patient is ready, and the handoff back to staff for return visit scheduling is immediate.
Please note, we have an outstanding clinic that is now very good at telehealth, (if that is an option preferred by the applicant). We are not primarily a telehealth company. We believe this offers a significant difference in the work environment, and job satisfaction.

Additional detail about our process:
All prescriptions are prepped by staff so that it only requires a few seconds from the provider to generate and later sign off on.  We still use paper charts with a specialized way to speed dictations.  We have held off on adopting an electronic medical record. We tested many, and every EMR we tested significantly slowed down the time our providers had to spend with patients.

Patient experience:
For the patient experience, please refer to our Google reviews. We are not aware of a clinic in the Southeast U.S.A. performing better.  That is not to say we are overly focused on reviews. We do not press our provider to obtain more reviews, and we strictly adhere to the standards of care.  Our ratings are simply a reflection of providing excellent patient experiences, with a strong focus on finding diplomatic ways of resolving issues that arise.  Our administrative staff is talented in helping with this. Generally speaking, we prefer hiring ancillary staff who have prior restaurant or hospitality experience, then we spend an extensive amount of time training them. Despite being in a very oversaturated market, we have more patients than we can quickly accept.  While this is a good problem to have as far as problems go, we consider it a big problem, and we need your help to fix this issue.

Salary/work status:
Full-Time: $110,000 - $125,000 is the starting salary range. This is W-2 employment and not a 1099 contracting offer that shifts the tax burden to our providers.

We believe that employees are a company’s most valuable resource, and our patients will receive the best possible care if we do everything possible to support our staff.
For those interested, please call our office and ask to speak our Clinic Director Amanda Bundrick at 843.974.5622, and mention that you are a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. We will promptly return messages. If you have a CV, please email it to health@centerway.org
